PHILIP
BASENER

Philipp Basener is a German theatre and film actor, drag artist and costume designer. After receiving his acting degree from Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich, he has worked at theatres all over Germany including Münchner Kammerspiele, Volkstheater München, Theater Bonn and the State Theatres of Kassel and Cottbus.
Philipp is co-founder of the art collective CHIN CHIN, which combines queer club culture and interdisciplinary performance art. The legendary CHIN CHIN parties are hosted by the collective and take place every few months in Bonn, currently also expanding to other cities and due to the pandemic to the virtual space. During the shut downs of theatres and culture spaces, Philipp has developed his drag character Mad M. Moustache, who's become well renowned in the drag scene and has led to collaborations with artists worldwide. His works with Swedish artist Märta Mattson were displayed at the Nääs Konsthandverk gallery in Gothenburg, Sweden and at the museum of Art & Design in New York City.
Philipp recently designed the costumes for the world premiere of IM WALD (da sind) at Comedia Theatre in Cologne. Costume Designs for THE GREAT GATSBY and TWO PENNY OPERA at the State Theatre of Cottbus are currently in the making.
